Dan Murphy’s, BWS, Cellarmasters, to name a few, are major household names in the retail drinks sector. They all form part of Endeavour Group (EDV) which also includes a large portfolio of Australia’s top pubs and clubs.
EDV was spun off from Woolworths. In short, Woolworths didn’t want to be associated with the pubs, clubs, and alcoholic retailers of EDV, due to their social perception, resulting in the demerger.
EDV is a cracker business that has access to 17.9 million customers through its Dan Murphy’s loyalty program and BWS’s partnership with Woolworths’s Everyday Rewards program. To put this into perspective, our population is just under 26 million people.
EDV showcased its resilience to market events during economic lockdowns, which saw strong demand for alcohol. When our borders reopen and as restrictions ease its pubs division should get a solid boost as well.
